Ronald McDonald House Mitzvah Project

The Social Action Committee is delighted to designate Ronald McDonald House in Brookline as the recipient of Temple Beth Emunah’s Spring and Summer mitzvah project.

Our project is twofold. We are collecting new toys for the infants, toddlers, and young children who are guests of Ronald McDonald House while they, or their siblings, receive treatment at Boston hospitals. The need is great for rattles, plastic keys, bath toys, shape sorters, balls, bath books, craft kits for girls, cars and trucks (no Matchbox, please) , K’nex and Lego sets, blocks, puzzles, and all the non- battery powered toys young children love. There is a box outside the library for your contributions.

The second mitzvah is making a meal for 25 people once a month. Our meals do not have to be kosher, but to celebrate Shavuot, we are making lasagna and salad to deliver to Brookline. We’d love to form a team, but if you can volunteer just one time, that’s fantastic. Our first meal preparation day is Sunday, June 8, at 9:30 a.m. Please contact Tina Langson or Leslie Cohen.

It's a simple menu of vegetarian lasagna and salad for 25 people. Please join us on the second Sunday of each month, as we plan to make this a permanent act of kindness.

Children older than 11 are invited to help; Babysitting will be available for younger children

In order to fund our meals, we need donations. Please write McDonald dinner fund on the memo line of your check. There is no amount too small, or large, to donate. Our hope is to continue making meals beyond August.

You may mail your check to Temple Beth Emunah, 479 Pearl St., Brockton 02301, or drop it off in the Temple office.

Receipts for donations are available in the Temple office. If you have any questions please e mail Tina Langson at loseley@verizon.net.

The Temple Beth Emunah team, 36 strong (double chai!), participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on October 5. Adults and children chose a three or five mile walk around the Charles River. Although the day was overcast and damp, team members’ hearts were light. The team is especially proud of their having raised more than $2500 for the American Cancer Society. The Social Action Committee congratulates and thanks the TBE team, and all the TBE congregants who made donations, for their mitzvah and for having made a difference.
