JACOB N. LIPMAN RELIGIOUS SCHOOL
A Religious School classroom is a very busy place. With so much to cover in a short
amount of time, teachers and students have to make the most of their time together.
Every session is planned to engage students’ hearts and minds with active
participation and learning. A Pre K and Kindergarten class may learn a new letter,
create an art project, or learn a lesson involving the Torah or nearest Jewish holiday.
Our teachers are extremely conscientious regarding the role they play in the
development of their students’ Jewish identities. They strive to develop lessons and
activities that are both fun and meaningful in they hope that the children develop
positive feelings about Judaism.
Our curriculum is enhanced by music, drama, field trips, Israeli study, and exciting
projects. Jewish education should be exciting for our children. Our kids deserve our
best efforts. They are, after all, the future of Judaism. We love them dearly and want
them to feel comfortable in our school.
We also hope that the Religious School experience will extend beyond the students
to include their parents. Our Shabbat and holiday programs provide opportunities
for parents and children to pray and celebrate together.
As the new year approaches we keep looking forward to a new beginning for
learning and personal growth. I am so very proud of our new Torah Lishmah High
School experience designed for students’ grades 8 thru12. This Telem curriculum
includes study and service projects that help students learn about the importance of
Jewish community and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world). Our students go to
Heights Crossing for the assisted living as well as a homeless shelter. I am so very
proud of these students who are bringing ruach and joy each time they visit. They
have created a happy atmosphere in each of these places. Each facility greets us
with warmth and embraces our students and they in exchange give of themselves
100%. We have lots to be proud of.
I encourage every 8th through 12th grade student to join our high school program. I
want to spread the message that becoming a bar or bat mitzvah is wonderful but
let’s keep and study the mitzvah afterwards.
Thank you to Mrs. Burman’s second grade class for filling their tzedakah box. A special Todah Rabah to Rachael Cohen (second grade) and Emily Cramer (seventh grade) for bringing in their own tzedakah boxes.
Thank you to all the wonderful who donated gifts to the homeless shelter. Our 6th and 7th grade students wrapped all of the gifts, with the help of Leanne Frank and Tina Langson.
The success of our school is due in large part to all of our staff members. We have an amazing team of teachers and family educators who I could not do this without. It is my pleasure to be associated with such a talented and devoted group of individuals.
I hope you had a happy New Year.
Love and B’Shalom,
Fran Litner Educational Director
